Frequently asked questions...
Here are a list of a few Frequently Asked Questions we get at or about The Playground. If you have a question that is not on the list, or you need more clarity on an answer, please reach out!
-Is The Playground for softball only?
YES- The Playground- Indoor Softball Facility is made BY softball players, FOR softball players. The only exception is for some of our strength and conditioning classes- these classes are open to all female athletes, but the exercises are tailored to the sport of softball.
-Why is The Playground only for softball athletes?
There aren’t any other facilities in this area that are specifically for softball athletes, that offers the coommunity that we offer. Most indoor training facilities are focused on baseball and softball is pushed to the back burner. Our sport, and women’s sports in general, are growing and our athletes deserve a place that is just for them. Read more about our story HERE!
-What is the best way to get ahold of you?
Because our instructors are usually with our athletes in lessons, it is really hard for us to answer a phone call. The best way for you to reach us and get a reply is a text message, email, or a Facebook Message. If sending a Facebook Message, please send the message to The Playground- Indoor Softball Facility's account.
We will get back to you- it might just be after hours! :)
-What is your cancellation policy?
As of May 1st, 2022, if you cancel a lesson or pull out of a camp/clinic with LESS THAN A 12 HOUR NOTICE, you will be refunded your lesson/camp/clinic fee MINUS a $15 cancellation fee.
-Can parents of members help in the cages/throw front toss to their athlete?
Yes- parents may practice with their athletes in the tunnels during their tunnel time. Each person who enters a cage MUST sign a liability wavier. This include athletes and adults of all ages. If the front tosser is under 18, they must wear a helmet.
-Can I bring my own instructor for a private lesson if I am renting a tunnel?
No- If you are paying a private instructor, they MUST be a PG Instructor. If we find you are paying an outside instructor while using our tunnels (whether you are a member using your membership benefits to rent a tunnel or a nonmember, paying the hourly rate) you will be asked to stop.
-Do I have to wear a helmet?
Yes- Anyone 12 years old or younger must wear a helmet while swinging off of a tee.
Anyone (any age) who is swinging at a moving ball (side toss, self toss, front toss, machine work) MUST wear a helmet.
-Do I have to be a member to go to The Playground?
NO! You do NOT need to be a member to come to The Playground. Members receive a lot of benefits, though. Click here to read about why you should become a PG Member.
-How do I pay?
We accept credit/debit cards, cash or check. When booking, you have the option to pay online. This is our preferred method of payment, as it allows us to spend more time with the athlete during the lesson or it gives you more time in your tunnel rental.
-If I am a member, can I bring a friend/teammate to my lesson or tunnel rental?
Every member is given a “Buddy Pass” upon signing up for a membership. This is a pass that allows you to bring a buddy to your tunnel rental, 3 different times. If you run out of buddy passes and want more, you can purchase another for $30. Buddy passes are available for purchase by members only.
-Do you offer team practice space rental?
Yes- We offer team practice space rental for both one time occasions and offseason weekly contracts. Please contact us to get this set up.
-Why can't I buy a monthly membership/Why do I have to committ to a year or 6 months?
We understand that the weather is nice a few months of the year and that there may be times you think you’d rather be outside practicing. We require membership contracts in year or 6 month terms because our bills (rent, utilities, etc) do not stop in the summer. If we want to be open in the winter, we have to have memberships in the summer, too.
-Can I freeze my membership?
You may only freeze your membership in the event of an injury that would require the athlete to sit out for an extended amount of time. This will be settled on a case by case basis.
-Why can't I have a full team in one tunnel?
Safety is a huge priority for us. We have decided that maximum of 3 athletes in a cage is a safe number. We also don’t want the facility getting overcrowded with multiple teams each only reserving one or two cages at a time.
What are your Open Hours and why do they change?
“Open Hours” are hours that we are open for tunnel rentals. Lessons, Camps and Clinics may happen during Open Hours, but they can also be scheduled outside of “Open Hours” if the instructor adds additional availability.
Our open hours change when school is in session and when they are out for the summer/holiday breaks. We are also closed on holidays.
